Meet Amanda
Hello and welcome! My journey in the fitness industry started in 2009 as a group fitness instructor. I was a competitive dancer and cheerleader during childhood, so it was no surprise to anyone that my first certification was a dance cardio class (Les Mills BodyJAM). One Les Mills certification turned into two, and I eventually ended up with a couple more: BodyFlow, BodyCombat, CXWorx.
In 2013, I was approached to create a barre class for one of the gyms I worked at. My interests had shifted by this time towards functional fitness and corrective exercise, so I designed a functional barre class. I became certified in Functional Movement Systems in 2017 and my barre class landed me on the Houston Chronicles’ list of top fitness instructors.
I stepped away from teaching during COVID and started taking reformer pilates sessions on a whim. I fell in love with the practice because of how it made me feel and what it taught me about my body. The level of concentration and body awareness each session required was something I hadn’t experienced in fitness before. I knew if I was going to teach again it would be pilates… and here we are!
I hold a Level 2 certification from Peak Pilates. During my level 3 training, I met the founder of Rebel Pilates Collective Heather Erdmann through her mentorship program. Her education and approach to the practice felt more aligned with my background, and I am in the process of bridging into her teacher training program to finalize my comprehensive certification.
